Job Description

The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) for Data Management plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, integrity, and compliance of healthcare data across the organization. This individual will be responsible for aligning data governance practices with regulatory standards, documenting data lineage and ownership, and collaborating with Data Stewards to maintain accurate metadata. They will proactively identify and resolve data quality issues through validation, cleansing, and monitoring, while implementing metrics and dashboards to track data accuracy and consistency.

The BSA will gather and translate business requirements into technical specifications for data models, data warehouses, and Master Data Management (MDM) solutions. They will analyze existing data systems and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability. Acting as a liaison between business units (such as Finance, Operations, and Compliance) and technical teams (including Data Engineers and DBAs), the BSA will facilitate communication and ensure alignment on data initiatives. Additional responsibilities include supporting and optimizing data management tools and processes, writing requirements and technical specifications for ETL/ELT workflows, and maintaining comprehensive documentation such as data dictionaries and business glossaries. The BSA will also develop reports and dashboards to monitor key governance metrics and ensure adherence to data policies.

Required Skills & Experience

- Bachelors degree (BS/BA)
- 6+ years of experience as a BSA
- 2+ years working within data governance or related areas
- Proficiency in SQL, data profiling tools, and metadata management
- Familiarity with database management systems, data warehousing, ETL tools (ex. Informatica), and governance frameworks
- Strong understanding of data lifecycle management and regulatory compliance
- Ability to analyze complex data flows and identify root causes of issues
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Familiarity with the Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) business model
- Background in designing and implementing data quality dashboards and governance KPIs
- Knowledge of healthcare data regulations and HIPPA compliance standards
