Job Description
: This position is responsible for managing and analyzing the budgets and finances for a department at UC San Diego. The role involves preparing the annual budget, tracking expenses, and ensuring that resources are used efficiently. You will create financial reports, analyze data, and provide recommendations to management to support decision-making. Additionally, you’ll assist with planning, forecasting, and making sure the department follows all financial policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include preparing and overseeing the department’s annual budget, analyzing financial data, tracking spending, and forecasting future needs. You will also create reports and summaries for management and other offices, coordinate budget allocations, maintain financial records, and support audits, compliance, and inventory reviews.

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience/training.
3+ years of experience in financial analysis, budget management or financial auditing
Advanced excel skills (v look ups & pivot tables)
Experience with financial modeling, resource planning, and budget oversight is preferred.
Strong knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Previous experience using Oracle or similar financial software
Exposure to fund accounting
