Job Description
We are looking for a hands on COBOL developer with experience in technical design, unit testing, and previous experience collaborating with BAs and testers while supporting maintenance, operations, system changes, and infrastructure migrations. The engineer will work entirely in a non–client facing capacity, contributing to code delivery, fixes, backup and recovery processes, and ongoing mainframe operational stability.
Role Responsibilities:
• Perform COBOL development, technical design, coding, and unit testing while working closely with BAs and testers to build clear technical requirements.
• Support maintenance and operations (M&O), including issue resolution, system changes, fixes, and ongoing operational stability.
• Contribute to server migration efforts, helping define and execute the technical migration path to new infrastructure locations.
• Assist with backup and recovery processes, ensuring system reliability and readiness.
• Work in a non–client-facing role, collaborating internally across BA, testing, and development teams to deliver high quality code and support enterprise mainframe systems.

Required Skills & Experience
• 5+ years of hands-on COBOL development experience, specifically native COBOL (not tool generated or script based variants).
• Strong proficiency with JCL (Job Control Language) for building, executing, and managing mainframe batch processes.
• Solid relational database expertise, including:
• SQL for querying, updating, and optimizing data operations.
• Designing, building, and working within relational data models to support complex business logic.
• DB2 experience strongly preferred, with familiarity in stored procedures, table structures, and performance considerations.
