Job Description

A large defense contractor sitting in Petaluma, CA is looking to hire a REMOTE Engineering Flight Test Specialist II that will act as a remote pilot in command for unmanned aircraft systems or vehicles for flight testing, developmental testing, acceptance test protocol (ATP), and various internal and external demonstrations. This flight test specialist will be tied to an up and coming unmanned vertical take off and landing aircraft that is currently in high demand. This person must understand computer networking and IP configuration to manage the complex, interconnected systems used for data collection and communication during test flights. He/She will be required to travel up to 80% for the role in primary locations such as Monterey Bay, CA, Pendleton, OR and other flight test locations that are on the East Coast and some international travel as well. This position pays hourly with overtime ranging between 8-20 hours per week as needed and covers all travel expenses. This position is paying between $26-46/hour depending on location and national rates.


Additional Position Responsibilities:
- Prepares detailed post flight test reporting and is required to report, follow and ensure adherence to all safety protocols
- Provides pertinent feedback to various department personnel on observed aircraft performance
- Perform flight demonstrations (also in charge of demo equipment, planning, travel, etc.)
- Responsible for acceptance quality control ("QC") system testing before flight test and after flight test
- Manages flight teams inventory and ensure all equipment is in good working order
- Responsible for checking in and out flight test-owned equipment
- Analyzes and solve problems that develop during flight testing
- Applies acquired job skills and company policies & procedures to complete assignments
- Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature and exercises sound judgment
- Follows established procedures on routine tasks, requiring instruction only on new assignments and minimal supervision

Required Skills & Experience

- 2-4+ years of unmanned aircraft or manned aircraft flight test experience
- Ability to write networking scripts, computer programming, understand IP configurations, and coding
- Ability to travel up to 80% for in field flight test activities, overtime applicable
- Experience with factory acceptance testing and ensure internal test strategies are being followed
- Required to have active passport, ability to get an active security clearance and the ability to pass FAA Part 107 Small Unmanned Aircraft exam on the job

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

RC/UAS experience is desired
Prior Military and/or Aviation experience is a plus
