Job Description

A lead defense contractor sitting in Petaluma, CA is looking to hire an onsite Industrial Engineer III. This person will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing systems and workflows, while assisting with Lean transformation initiatives. This person will be responsible for assisting in material optimization flow lines, laying out new facilities, process improvements, work bench stations, setting up lean lines, etc. The production volume across their business unit ranges between 1500-1800 units/month for 4 production lines. They're looking for this Engineer to help drive value stream efficiency, capacity planning, and strategic use of resources, ensuring alignment with business goals related to output, cost, quality, and lead time. This role involves a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and project management capabilities to drive continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. This role involves collaborating with internal and external teams to develop and implement new manufacturing processes and technologies. This role is paying between, $100,500 - $153,250 depending on qualifications and years of experience.

Required Skills & Experience

3+ years of experience in Industrial Engineering or applied Manufacturing Engineering experience
Strong foundation in lean manufacturing principles, familiarity with all related tools, 5s's, value stream mapping, Kaizen concepts
Related experience in high-mix, low-volume, or complex production environments
Highly experienced within the Production Floor; experience laying out new facilities (utilizing AutoCad for facility layout), optimizing production processes, and driving data (Up time vs. Down Time, calculating yield rates, cycle time, proficiency in process simulation tools, time studies, and data analytics).
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (up to 50%) - once quarter as needed

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Plusses:
Experience with 3D printing software, equipment, and materials +
Lean Six Sigma certification (Green/Black Belt) strongly preferred +
Experience with simulation software (e.g., SIMIO) and CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) +
