Job Description

THE ROLE:
Working within the Materials & Fasteners Engineering group at Tesla, this individual will be responsible for structuring and management of a fixed-term project with aggressive financial and environmental impact targets. The project will primarily involve the design, sourcing, validation, and implementation of torqued fasteners. Success of the individual and the project over the contract period would make the candidate eligible for transition to a full-time role.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Structure a fastener sourcing initiative to maximize value across all Vehicle, Energy, and Service programs and across all global factories (including APAC/EMEA), considering and acting on opportunities for fastener commonization, design optimization, and re-negotiation.
Define and manage validation programs for new fasteners, setting completion targets, organizing resources, maximizing value.
Work with Design, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Service teams to source, approve, and implement new fastener designs in production; establish workflows for these teams, and ensure they can execute to set targets.
Establish measurable targets for the program (including completion rate, cost impact, and environmental impact) and regularly report on progress against targets to executive leadership.

THE REQUIREMENTS
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Engineering Management, or a similar discipline, AT LEAST 4 years of experience in a TPM role.
Bias for action, strong organizational and presentation skills, and resource management ability are critical.
Experience or interest in the automotive or manufacturing space preferred
Experiences with program management, supplier engagement, and cross[1]functional engineering collaboration preferred.
Experience with materials and fasteners testing techniques preferred.
