Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Android Audio Software Engineer to support and maintain an Android Automotive OS (AAOS) In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) platform. This is a hands-on systems-level role focused on troubleshooting, root cause analysis, debugging, and resolving production audio issues across the Android Audio stack.
This is not an Android application development role and is not focused on new feature development. The ideal candidate will have deep experience working within the Android Audio Framework and be comfortable identifying and fixing issues across multiple layers of the audio stack.
Responsibilities
Investigate and resolve production audio issues including noisy, muted, and intermittent audio behavior
Perform root-cause analysis across Android Audio Framework, Audio Policy, AudioFlinger, and Audio HAL layers
Collect, analyze, and interpret audio logs and system traces
Debug audio routing, focus management, playback, and audio path issues
Work cross-functionally with platform, kernel, and hardware teams to isolate and resolve defects
Implement bug fixes and enhancements within existing audio components
Support integration, validation, and troubleshooting of AAOS audio functionality
Analyze framework, HAL, and kernel interactions to determine issue ownership and resolution paths

Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of Android Audio development and debugging experience
Strong expertise with Android Audio Framework, including AudioFlinger and AudioPolicyManager
Experience with AAOS and/or AOSP platform development
Hands-on experience with Audio HAL integration and troubleshooting
Strong C/C++ skills
Experience debugging audio issues across Framework, Audio Policy, AudioFlinger, and HAL layers
Experience using adb, logcat, bugreports, dumpsys, and Perfetto for root cause analysis
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Android Automotive (IVI) experience
Bluetooth Audio (A2DP/HFP) experience
Experience with Linux ASoC drivers
Automotive SoC experience (Qualcomm, NXP, TI)
