Job Description
Insight Global is seeking an Instrumentation Technician to join a biotechnology R&D hub in Palo Alto. We are seeking a hands-on Junior Instrumentation & Controls Technician to support the maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial process equipment and instrumentation systems. This individual will work with sensors, electrical systems, PLC-controlled equipment, and process control technologies to ensure safe and reliable plant operations.
The ideal candidate has a strong troubleshooting mindset, experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment, and the ability to read technical diagrams and maintenance documentation.
Key responsibilities include:
Calibrate and maintain process instrumentation and control devices
Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and instrumentation issues on production and utility equipment
Diagnose and repair sensors, transmitters, control loops, motors, and related equipment
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities
Utilize PLC interfaces, HMI systems, and SCADA platforms during troubleshooting efforts
Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment documentation
Follow SOPs, work instructions, and maintenance procedures
Complete accurate maintenance records and reports
Support equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives
Work safely while following applicable plant and regulatory requirements

Required Skills & Experience
- 1-3 years experience calibrating industrial instruments and sensors such as (Pressure transmitters, temperature probes (RTDs, thermocouples), Flow meters, level transmitters, weigh scales/load cells)
- Exposure to PLC-controlled systems
- Ability to navigate HMI or SCADA interfaces for troubleshooting purposes
- Experience reading P&IDs, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or laboratory environments
- Technical training or education from a local trade school
