Job Description
An Ai Startup is hiring a senior finance leader from financial services to help shape and build the next generation of finance and business intelligence. This person should bring deep controllership judgment from a regulated, high-scrutiny environment and be able to translate real-world close, reporting, control, and management experience into product requirements, workflow design, and customer-facing domain expertise. The ideal candidate has operated in a public-company or large private financial-services organization and understands how close, reporting, SOX/ICFR, and external-auditor expectations interact in practice.
• Act as the finance domain authority for regulated financial-services use cases.
• Translate real-world close, reporting, and SOX/ICFR processes into product requirements and workflows.
• Partner closely with product and engineering to ensure finance automation mirrors how work actually happens.
• Support customer conversations with CFOs, Controllers, CAOs, Internal Audit, and SOX leaders.
• Shape audit-ready evidence, controls, and review logic within the platform.

Required Skills & Experience
-15–20+ years in financial-services finance leadership (Controller, CAO, or equivalent).
-Deep hands-on experience with close, reporting, and SOX/ICFR.
-Background in public company or highly regulated financial institution.
-Regular interaction with internal and external auditors.
-Ability to translate operational judgment into repeatable, scalable workflows.
-CPA (strongly preferred).
-Travel up to 1 week per month if not local to NYC or the bay area
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience navigating quarter‑end and year‑end close cycles under regulatory requirements
• Experience partnering directly with product and engineering teams
• Comfort working in startup environment
