Technical Product Manager / Technical Project Manager
Engagement Overview
• Duration: 12 months, with potential to extend
• Start: ASAP
• Location: Primarily remote; onsite once per month at the Oakland office
• Level: Relevant experience and domain expertise prioritized over tenure

Role Summary
We are seeking a Technical Product Manager / Project Manager to support the Wildfire Risk RADA team made up of risk model developers and data scientists. This role sits at the intersection of utility operations, data science, machine learning, and stakeholder engagement, with a strong emphasis on translating complex technical and regulatory requirements into actionable product and delivery plans.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with data intensive or algorithm based products, is comfortable working with machine learning models, and can effectively educate non-technical stakeholders on model behavior, limitations, and outputs. Experience in the utility industry, particularly related to electric system failures or wildfire risk, is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities
Product & Model Management
• Support the development and evolution of risk models and other data driven products used by the business
• Own and contribute to model development roadmaps and longer term product strategy
• Partner closely with model developers and data scientists to prioritize work and sequence delivery
Agile & Delivery Leadership
• Act as Scrum Master and/or Agile Product Lead, including:
o Running daily standups
o Facilitating sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
• Organize and lead technical working sessions, ensuring:
o Clear documentation of decisions
o Action items are tracked and closed
• Break down work into well structured Jira Epics and Stories
Requirements Translation
• Translate business problems into clear, actionable technical requirements
• Translate regulatory requirements into technical specifications and backlog items
• Maintain high quality documentation in Confluence to support transparency and traceability
Stakeholder Engagement
• Serve as a primary point of contact between technical teams and business stakeholders
• Manage incoming requests, scope discussions, and prioritization conversations
• Educate stakeholders on:
o Model assumptions
o Data limitations
o Technical tradeoffs and impacts on timelines

Required Skills & Experience

Required Qualifications & Experience
• Experience as a Product Manager, Technical Project Manager, or hybrid role
• Strong technical foundation, with experience in one or more of the following:
o Data science
o Machine learning or algorithm based products
o Engineering or scientific domains
• Experience working with Agile / Scrum, including Scrum Master responsibilities
• Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts for non technical audiences
• Experience working in regulated environments or with regulatory requirements

• Knowledge of utility electric system failures
• Familiarity with wildfire risk, mitigation, or utility operations
• Experience supporting machine learning models or data intensive platforms
• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in:
o Engineering
o Science
o Physics
