Job Description

Insight Global is looking for an Instructional Designer, to sit remotely, who will be responsible for converting existing UPK training materials into clear, accessible, and user‑friendly job aids, ensuring all new documents meet accessibility standards such as WCAG and Section 508. In this role, you will review and improve content for clarity, accuracy, and ease of use while translating complex HR system processes into simple, actionable steps. They will also evaluate sets of related materials to determine when content should be consolidated and reorganized for maximum user comprehension. Daily work includes proofreading, refining formatting and structure, maintaining consistency across deliverables, and collaborating with subject matter experts as needed to validate content accuracy and decisions.

Required Skills & Experience

- Expert-level skill in creating accessible-compliant documents/PDFs (WCAG, ADA, Section 508)
- Strong ability to understand, interpret, summarize, and simplify complex technical or HR system content
- Demonstrated experience writing job aids, quick reference guides, and systems training materials
- Practical working knowledge of HR systems, ideally PeopleSoft, and general HR process flows
- Minimum 2 years of experience in instructional design or technical writing
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Experience working in a higher education system, public institution, or large, complex organization.
- Familiarity with UPK content structure or prior experience converting UPK materials.
- Knowledge of UC policies, HR workflows, or systemwide processes.
- Ability to standardize content across multiple SMEs or teams.
- Strong visual design or layout skills for improving readability and user guidance.
- Experience using Adobe Acrobat accessibility tools, screen reader testing, or remediation software.
- Ability to propose improvements to the training ecosystem beyond the immediate conversion task.
