Job Description
The Technical Product Manager serves as a vital bridge between product management and engineering at Facilitron, ensuring technical alignment, clarity, and efficiency across the development lifecycle. This role is uniquely positioned at the intersection of our product and engineering organizations—translating PRDs and feature requests into actionable technical plans, reducing engineering overhead, and driving the processes that allow our development teams to stay focused on building.
You will work across Facilitron’s core product lines—S&R (facility scheduling and rentals on Node.js/AWS), Works (maintenance and work order management on .NET/Azure), and FIT (mobile inspections in React Native)—providing the technical decomposition, documentation, and cross-team coordination that keeps our multi-stack development organization shipping efficiently.
Responsibilities:
Technical Requirement Development
• Analyze and translate Feature Requests (FRs) and Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) from Confluence into clear, detailed technical requirements and development-ready stories in Jira
• Collaborate with Product Managers to evaluate technical feasibility and identify the best implementation approaches for proposed features across S&R (Node.js, MongoDB/PostgreSQL, AWS) and Works (.NET WebForms/Core, SQL Server, Azure)
• Decompose complex product initiatives into well-scoped engineering work items with clear dependencies, edge cases, and technical considerations documented
• Identify cross-product technical implications—particularly where S&R and Works intersect (e.g., service rules, rule-based work order generation, availability configurations, insurance integrations)
Engineering Support and Facilitation
• Conduct upfront research and provide engineering teams with the business context, data models, API contracts, and system behavior documentation they need—minimizing time engineers spend on background gathering
• Break down business needs into actionable technical items that facilitate accurate engineering estimations and sprint planning
• Act as the primary bridge between Product and Engineering, ensuring mutual understanding of priorities, technical constraints, and tradeoffs
• Represent the engineering team in business, product, and contractor meetings—surfacing critical decisions to the right stakeholders without overloading engineers’ schedules
• Support the ongoing Works platform migration from legacy .NET WebForms to .NET Core by identifying modernization opportunities within feature work
Ticket and Workflow Management
• Review and finalize Jira tickets to ensure they contain clear, concise, and actionable technical details before they enter the sprint backlog
• Maintain consistency and clarity across all tickets, linking to relevant PRDs in Confluence, design assets in Figma, and technical design documents
• Ensure acceptance criteria are technically precise and testable, coordinating with QA teams on test plan alignment
• Manage ticket hygiene across Jira projects for both S&R and Works product lines, maintaining accurate status, priority, and dependency tracking
Process and Documentation Development
• Develop and implement standardized processes for product releases across both the S&R (GitHub, AWS) and Works (Bitbucket, Azure DevOps) deployment pipelines
• Create and maintain templates and documentation standards for technical design documents, PRDs, and Jira ticket layouts in Confluence
• Establish repeatable workflows for feature development—from PRD handoff through technical specification, engineering estimation, implementation, QA, and release
• Document system architecture decisions, API designs, data flow diagrams, and integration patterns to build institutional knowledge
Feature Development Support
• Break down new features from an engineering perspective, researching the existing codebase and presenting implementation options with tradeoffs to the team for final technical decisions
• Author centralized technical design documents in Confluence that serve as the engineering blueprint for complex features
• Evaluate technical debt and platform modernization opportunities, recommending where to invest in refactoring alongside feature work
• Support cross-platform feature development, particularly for integrations between S&R and Works (e.g., work order automation, service exceptions, facility availability synchronization)
AI and Emerging Technology
• Evaluate opportunities to integrate large language models (LLMs) and agentic AI into Facilitron’s development workflows and product capabilities—from AI-assisted code generation and automated testing to intelligent user-facing features
• Research and prototype AI-driven solutions that can automate facility management workflows, enhance maintenance scheduling, or improve the renter experience
• Partner with engineering leadership to define technical standards and architectural patterns for AI/ML feature development across both S&R and Works platforms
Product Release Management
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to create and maintain structured, efficient release processes across both platforms
• Coordinate release timelines and dependencies across S&R and Works, ensuring smooth and timely deployments
• Create release documentation including Loom walkthroughs, release notes, and technical change summaries for internal stakeholders
• Monitor post-release metrics and coordinate with engineering on bug triage and hotfix prioritization using FullStory session data and support ticket analysis
