Job Description

A lead defense contractor sitting in Simi Valley, CA is looking to hire an onsite Systems Test Engineer III, that will be working on a 9/80 schedule, that will be supporting their Systems Engineering Integration and Test department. This engineer will be responsible for developing and executing System Test Plans for small, unmanned air vehicles and missiles and their associated subsystems. Testing encompasses simulator, ground and flight tests and includes logging and analyzing data and documenting test results. Their department covers the full development and lifecycle of products ranging from new starts all the way through from transition to production. This person will be supporting next-generation unmanned air vehicles and robotic systems. He/she will be assisting in multiple R+D projects supporting their business line offering products ranging from (VTOL aircrafts, autonomous flight technology, quadcopter etc.). Most of their products are weapon systems and they're one way attack vehicles and they do some ISR using cameras. He/she will be primarily supporting the developmental test and evaluation of sub-system, model-scale, and full scale testing, while also assisting the Flight Test Director during flight tests. This role pays between $125-155k depending on years of experience and qualifications.

• Determine and communicate subsystem, system and flight test objectives. Develop test cards to verify that those objectives are met
• Review System Requirement documents to help ensure requirements are concise and testable
• Participate in test and flight readiness reviews, test briefs, and post-test debriefs
• Ensure test assets are prepared to support testing, including the proper configuration of product hardware and software, writing test cards and procedures, and maintaining test equipment
• Process and analyze test data to determine test results. Analyze large test data sets using software tools (MATLAB or Excel)
• Capture test activities, fill in test data sheets, and transfer telemetry files to the network. Enter test failures or anomalies in an issue tracking system database.
• Develop System Test Plans, for small unmanned air vehicles and missiles and their associated subsystems, execute simulator and flight tests, and document test results
• Responsible for estimating time required to conduct testing and completing assigned tasks within project schedule
Work with outside test labs and assist technicians during testing when required

Required Skills & Experience

- Obtained Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related space
- 5-8+ years of experience in Systems Test Engineering (Aerospace systems engineering preferred) and/or hands on AeroMechanical Design experience
- Experienced with aircraft products, robotics/piloting and Radio-Controlled (RC) experience
- Previously involved in collaborating with design teams, planning ground and flight test campaigns including a simulator and logging and analyzing data and documenting test results
- Ability to support fligh test sites in Salt Lake City, UT and/or Yuma AZ (30% travel needed)
