Job Description

This role is responsible for ensuring all sets are fully prepped each day with the proper equipment, and that all gear is sanitized, organized, and ready for use. They lead inventory control and ensure proper chain of custody is followed for all studio equipment using inventory software. This includes conducting monthly equipment audits and overseeing the repair and ongoing maintenance of all gear.

On a daily basis, the role focuses on continuous software improvements, including creating templates and containers, intaking new equipment, and completing order audits. The individual leads and oversees the freelance crew in executing day‑to‑day tasks, including teaching freelancers how to safely secure items on set and ensuring all work is completed safely and correctly.

This role is also highly hands‑on from a grip perspective, requiring active involvement in physical setup and breakdown of sets. Responsibilities include rigging lights on set, performing heavy lifting, using a variety of tools to execute builds, and applying creative problem‑solving to ensure equipment and tools work together effectively to support the shoot.

Required Skills & Experience

Ability to ensure all sets are prepped daily with proper equipment that is sanitized and organized
Experience leading inventory control
Ability to ensure proper chain of custody for studio equipment using Trak‑It Works software
Experience conducting monthly equipment (EQ) audits
Experience overseeing repair and maintenance of gear
Ability to support and execute daily software improvements
Experience creating templates and containers
Experience intaking new equipment and completing order audits
Ability to lead a freelance crew in day‑to‑day tasks
Key grip experience
Extensive photo assistant experience
Hands‑on, physical experience with heavy lifting
Experience rigging lights on set
Ability to use a variety of tools to execute set builds
Creative problem‑solving skills to ensure tools and equipment work together effectively
Ability to teach freelancers how to safely secure items on set
