Job Description

Perform dimensional inspections and 3D scanning on prototype parts, assemblies, body panels, brackets, fixtures, and vehicle components.
Utilize Creaform scanners, Hexagon 7-Axis Arms, and other portable metrology equipment to collect measurement data.
Develop, program, and execute inspection routines within PolyWorks.
Import scan data, compare results against CAD models, and generate detailed inspection reports.
Create standardized reporting and measurement processes while identifying opportunities for automation within PolyWorks.
Build measurement fixtures and holding devices utilizing systems such as Alufix and other custom fixture solutions.
Interpret engineering drawings and inspect parts to ASME GD&T standards, such as:
Datums and Datum Reference Frames (DRFs), Feature Control Frames, Position Tolerance, Flatness, Perpendicularity, Profile, True Position
Support prototype builds, dimensional investigations, assembly concerns, and interface validation efforts.
Operate digital microscopes, elemental analyzers, and additional laboratory inspection equipment.
Communicate measurement results and findings to engineering teams.
Help improve repeatability, efficiency, and reporting accuracy across the metrology lab.

Required Skills & Experience

2-3+ years of dimensional metrology experience supporting prototype, pre-production, automotive, aerospace, or similar manufacturing environments.
Minimum 2+ years of hands-on PolyWorks experience.
Experience creating and programming inspection routines within PolyWorks (not just running existing programs).
Experience with:
Creaform 3D Scanners
Hexagon Portable Arms / 7-Axis Arms
Portable metrology systems
Strong understanding and application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
Ability to develop measurement strategies and perform complex dimensional inspections.
Experience generating measurement reports and communicating results to engineering teams.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced prototype environment where priorities shift quickly.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Preferred Qualifications
Automotive industry experience.
Aerospace industry experience.
Experience building fixtures using Alufix or similar modular fixturing systems.
CT Scan/X-Ray dimensional inspection experience.
Experience utilizing industrial CT scanners for dimensional assessments is highly desired but not required.
Experience with CM4D for dimensional reporting, trend analysis, and production monitoring.
Experience supporting prototype vehicle builds, launch activities, or advanced engineering programs.
Exposure to measurement system analysis concepts such as Gage R&R, correlation studies, and measurement uncertainty.
