A large logistics company is seeking a Mid-Sr. Cloud Database Engineer. This person will be at the forefront of designing and implementing innovative database solutions in cloud-native and hybrid environments. This role is vital for aligning database strategies with business objectives and ensuring the efficient operation of the database infrastructure. This a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension and/or conversion. This role is required to report onsite on a hybrid basis (3-4 days) to their Irvine, CA headquarters.
Key responsibilities below but not limited to:
· Design and continuously develop the database architecture to meet the company's requirements.
· Collaborate with development teams to improve deployment pipelines, reliability, and incident response.
· Design, implement, and manage scalable and highly available infrastructure.
· Monitor system performance, conduct optimizations, and ensure high availability of database services using Datadog.
· Create and monitor security policies for database operations.
· Manage disaster recovery and ensure data integrity.
· Participate in the 24/7 on-call service (roughly a few times per month).

· Degree in Computer Science or a comparable qualification with further education in cloud technologies.
· 6+ years of experience in managing and maintaining complex cloud and hybrid database systems.
· Proven experience in leading database projects in cloud and hybrid environments.
· Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with various stakeholders.
· 5+ years of experience in Terraform, shell programming and Python scripting.
· 3+ years of experience in Developing CI/CD pipelines for database tasks.
· 3+ years experience with cloud database technologies such as Google Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, AWS RDS, Azure PostgreSQL, Oracle and MSSQL
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Proven in-depth experience in administration, development, and operation of databases.
· 5+ years of experience in the design and implementation of database solutions in the cloud preferably in GCP.
· Practical experience in transitioning from legacy to cloud.
