Job Description

- A local sanitary district is looking for an Electrician/Instrumentation Technician to join the team for a temporary assignment. This role involves the installation and maintenance of industrial electrical systems, including lighting circuits, outlets, switches, relays, circuit breakers, and power panels. Technicians work with components ranging from low voltage up to 600 volts, installing or replacing motors, transformers, and other critical devices. Daily tasks include testing, troubleshooting, and performing preventive maintenance using tools like voltmeters and amp probes. They repair or replace defective parts in motors, generators, batteries, and solar equipment, and maintain electromechanical systems such as pneumatic and hydraulic devices. The position also includes electrical estimating for new construction and performing installations on HVAC systems, compressors, valves, and public address systems. Safety is a priority, with strict adherence to lockout/tag-out procedures and OSHA standards when disconnecting and reconnecting power sources. Technicians bend and install conduit, modify motor control circuits, and interpret blueprints and schematics to plan and document their work.

Required Skills & Experience

- 1-2 years of experience in electrical maintenance
- Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques applicable to the maintenance, installation, and repair of industrial electrical equipment common to a wastewater treatment plant
- Knowledge of local and national electrical codes applicable to the maintenance, installation, and repair of designated facilities
- Maintain cooperative working relationships while performing physically demanding tasks such as walking, standing, climbing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds, often in extreme outdoor conditions.
- Regularly use hands and limbs for repetitive movements, handling tools, and operating equipment.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Bachelors degree in a related field
- Knowledge of SCADA instrumentation and controls, 460V 3-phase systems, PLC controls, open and close loop controls, preventive/corrective maintenance, power and control circuits and plant instrumentation calibration is desirable.
- California Certified Journeyman Electrician Card desirable
