Job Description

Insight Global is hiring a Director of Import Cost Compliance for a full-time, onsite role in Hermosa Beach, CA with a leading global retail brand. This position serves as the internal authority on supplier pricing and import cost compliance, ensuring accurate invoicing, proper documentation, and timely payment to international factories across global operations. The Director will lead a team of managers and coordinators, overseeing invoice tracking, approvals, audit checks, and payment workflows while implementing strong controls and driving process improvements. This role partners closely with Finance, AP, Costing, IT, and global teams to resolve discrepancies, improve systems, and ensure efficient, compliant operations across multiple countries. This leadership position requires a highly experienced professional with a strong background in global payables, import compliance, and ERP systems, along with the ability to strategically optimize processes and lead high-performing teams.

Required Skills & Experience

- 6+ years of experience in accounts payable, supplier costing, import compliance, or supply chain finance
- 3+ years of leadership experience, including managing managers and setting direction for teams
- Experience with Oracle (OCF) or ERP system implementations and integrations
- Background in retail or consumer goods organizations
- Experience working with international factory regions (Asia and Europe)
- Experience with letters of credit, chargebacks, special shipments, and returns
- 1–3+ years of import compliance experience (can be teachable; does not need to be extensive)
- Strong global accounts payable experience, including foreign vendor payments, factory invoicing, and invoice lifecycle management (tracking, approvals, payments)
- Experience paying factories for goods (rather than services)
- Experience ensuring proper documentation for imports into the U.S. and other international markets
- Experience with audit checks, financial controls, and monthly corporate financial reporting
- Hands-on experience reviewing and approving high-volume, complex invoices
- Experience with large ERP systems (Oracle Cloud Financials preferred; SAP, PeopleSoft, or similar accepted)
- Proven ability to implement controls, improve processes, and drive operational efficiency
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Ability to work onsite in Hermosa Beach, CA

- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Finance, IT, AP, and global stakeholders
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
