Job Description

Corporate & Property Accounting
• Oversee accounting for multiple corporate, property, and development entities.
• Maintain general ledgers, perform reconciliations, and ensure accuracy of financial data.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and supporting schedules.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
• Support invoice processing and payables/receivables.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, vendor documentation, and approval workflows.
Year-End and Audit Preparation
• Lead or support year-end close activities, including reconciliations, accruals, and variance analyses.
• Prepare 1099s and support external CPA audit requests.
• Develop and maintain year-end checklists and schedules to ensure timely reporting.
Real Estate Development Accounting
• Track and book activity from predevelopment and construction projects.
• Support draw requests for development projects.
Review and Consolidate Third-Party Property Manager Accounting
• Gather and review financial submissions from third-party managers.
• Consolidate financials for portfolio-wide reporting.
Process Integrity & Reporting
• Uphold APG’s accounting policies, documentation standards, and process controls.
• Identify and recommend improvements or automation opportunities in systems and workflows.
• Provide clear, concise updates to leadership and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience: Minimum 7–10 years of professional accounting experience, with specific experience in real estate development and/or affordable housing strongly preferred.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
• Technical Expertise:
o Yardi experience required (Yardi Breeze preferred)
o QuickBooks Online required
o Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge: Solid understanding of GAAP, accrual accounting, cost tracking for development projects, and multi-entity reporting.
• Work Style: Highly organized, reliable, and self-motivated; able to operate independently in a remote environment.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, follow-through, and time management skills; comfortable handling high-volume, deadline-driven work during Year-End.
