Job Description

We are looking for a Technical Writer to help lead strategies and initiatives in an organization that is working closely with GRC. You will be responsible for writing regulatory requirements in pursuit of a large business case. This role is essential in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing utility operations, including energy and environmental standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of regulatory language, technical writing best practices, and the ability to translate complex technical and legal information into clear, accessible documentation.

In this Scope of Work you will do the following:

Write, edit, and maintain regulatory documents, including:
- Compliance reports
- Environmental impact statements
- Safety and operational procedures
- Permit applications and filings
- Internal policies and manuals
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) in engineering, legal, environmental, and operations departments to gather and verify technical content.
Ensure documentation aligns with regulatory requirements from agencies such as:
- Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)
- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
- Department of Energy (DOE)
- State Public Utility Commissions (PUCs)
- Track regulatory changes and update documentation accordingly.
- Support audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews by preparing and organizing required documentation.
- Maintain version control and document management using systems like SharePoint, Documentum, or similar platforms.

Required Skills & Experience

- 3+ years of experience in technical or regulatory writing, preferably in the utility or energy sector.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and compliance standards relevant to utilities.
- Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Experience with regulatory filings and reporting tools.
Knowledge of utility operations, infrastructure, and environmental compliance.
- Familiarity with GIS, SCADA, or other utility-specific systems.
- Understanding of risk management and emergency response documentation.
