Job Description

Pay Rate: 30-50/hr
Duration: 1 month + possible extension
Job Summary
The Field Safety Specialist plays a critical role in promoting and maintaining a safe work environment. This position provides safety leadership, ensures compliance with corporate and regulatory standards, supports training initiatives, and drives continuous improvement in safety performance.

Key Responsibilities
• Conduct safety audits and inspections of job sites, equipment, vehicles, and facilities
• Document job site visits with detailed written reports
• Maintain exemplary driving safety standards
• Provide coaching and technical guidance on hazard analysis, risk reduction, and safety procedures
• Investigate incidents, near-misses, and injuries to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions
• Support strategic safety planning and employee safety programs
• Promote best practices and continuous improvement in safety performance
• Foster a culture of safety through daily employee engagement
• Participate in developing and refining safety program processes

Required Skills & Abilities
• Strong knowledge of incident investigation and reporting
• Ability to coach and mentor employees on safety behaviors
• Collaborative problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks independently
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Analytical thinking and clear written/verbal communication
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety + 1 year of relevant experience
• BCSP Safety Certification
5 years of relevant safety experience + OSHA 500 or OSHA 5109

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Current OSHA 10 Construction
• Current OSHA 30 Construction
• OSHA-7505: Introduction to Incident (Accident) Investigation
• 3+ years of safety experience in underground utility electric, civil, or gas distribution construction
Experience in incident investigation, hazard analysis, field observations, coaching, and documentation control
