Job Description
A large defense technology client is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer to sit onsite in Costa Mesa, CA. This role focuses on system-level integration and testing, bringing together hardware, firmware, and cross-functional teams to validate complex systems from initial bring-up through full system verification.
This position requires a blend of strong technical depth and project engineering leadership. The Systems Integration Engineer will develop and execute system test plans, create architectural and integration diagrams, and lead cross-disciplinary efforts to ensure successful integration. The ideal candidate has prior experience acting as a technical lead, coordinating across teams, and driving integration efforts through clear communication and organization.

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline
Experience performing system-level integration and testing (beyond board-level testing)
Proven ability to develop and execute system test plans
Hands-on experience working across hardware and firmware disciplines
Strong understanding of system architecture and interdependencies between subsystems
Experience creating system diagrams (block diagrams, interface diagrams, signal flow diagrams)
PCB design experience or strong familiarity with PCB-level architecture and schematics
Experience working with cabling, harnesses, and interconnects, including interface verification
Ability to troubleshoot and debug issues that span multiple subsystems
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Prior experience in aerospace, defense, UAV, automotive, or complex embedded systems
Background as a project engineer, systems engineer, or integration lead
Experience supporting complex electromechanical systems (air vehicles, payloads, comms systems, etc.)
Familiarity with lab tools and debug equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, interface tools)
Experience leading integration efforts in fast-paced or evolving development environment
