Job Description

The Contribution Specialist plays a critical role in the end‑to‑end processing, reconciliation, and quality assurance of employer contributions that fund participant health and pension benefits. This position sits at the front end of the contribution lifecycle, serving as a key control point where earnings and contribution data are reviewed, reconciled, corrected, and approved before flowing downstream to eligibility and benefit calculations.
This role focuses heavily on complex, non‑standard contribution scenarios and end to end analysis of scenarios —including overpayments, underpayments, file exceptions, and reconciliation issues that automation cannot resolve—requiring strong analytical skills, transactional execution, and an accounting‑oriented mindset. The Specialist partners closely with internal teams and external vendors to identify root causes, resolve discrepancies, and improve processing accuracy and timeliness.

Key Responsibilities:
- Process and reconcile employer earnings and contribution files, including complex, non‑standard scenarios where automation fails.
- Identify, research, and resolve overpayment and underpayment discrepancies; submit adjustments to fully reconcile contributions.
- Analyze large, high‑volume datasets to identify patterns, trends, and root causes of recurring contribution discrepancies.
- Perform detailed exception reviews to determine why files or payments failed business rules or system logic.
- Execute corrective actions based on analysis, ensuring issues are resolved end‑to‑end—not just identified.
- Serve as a first point of escalation for complex contribution issues and perform QA reviews of processed work.
- Partner with internal teams and external vendors to resolve reporting errors and contribution mismatches.
- Support internal and external audits, including review of reconciliations, refunds, and adjustments.
- Navigate multiple systems and tools to research, process, and resolve contribution activity accurately and timely.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and automation within contribution workflows.
