Job Description

This global marine transportation company is expanding its Australian operations to support growing government and defense-related work, and is seeking a Senior Cyber Analyst to lead cybersecurity efforts in the region.

This is a hands-on role responsible for strengthening security operations, aligning with evolving Australian regulations, and ensuring consistency with global cybersecurity frameworks.

Based in Sydney, this role will oversee SOC-related activities, manage one cybersecurity analyst, and act as the local cybersecurity lead while partnering closely with global teams. It’s an ideal opportunity for a technically strong cybersecurity professional looking to step into a leadership role and shape a security roadmap in a dynamic, fast-evolving environment.

Day to Day:
· Oversee SOC triage activities and manage security alerts and escalations
· Investigate and follow through on security incidents to ensure resolution
· Align security processes with frameworks such as NIST and ISP
· Monitor and adapt to evolving Australian cybersecurity regulations Collaborate with IT and global teams (Vancouver) on security initiatives
· Provide technical guidance and direction to a Cybersecurity Analyst
· Evaluate and improve security tools (Zscaler, Microsoft, Check Point)
· Conduct risk assessments and support vulnerability management
· Act as the escalation point for complex cybersecurity issues

Required Skills & Experience

· 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity, IT security, or SOC environments
· 5-7 years of overall experience within IT
· Moving it to sc
· Strong technical background in IT infrastructure and cybersecurity
· Hands-on experience with SOC operations, incident response, and escalation management
· Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISP)
· Ability to work independently and lead security initiatives locally
Experience with Zscaler, Microsoft security stack, and/or Check Point

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Background in defense, government, or regulated environments
· Exposure to security architecture or Zero Trust frameworks
· Certifications (e.g., Zscaler, Microsoft, CEH)
Experience managing or mentoring team members
