Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Power BI Developer to join an enterprise retail company hybrid out of Vancouver. The successful candidate will create SQL queries for data integrations and reports. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Power BI, SQL, and data engineering with the ability to manage complex data environments. This position requires expertise in data modelling, ETL processes, and a passion for creating data-driven insights. This position will collaborate closely with internal technical teams to build data structures, ad-hoc dashboards and reports to support operational and analytical reporting needs.

Required Skills & Experience

3-5 years of hands-on experience working with Power BI
3-5 years of experience in SQL, with proficiency in complex queries and data extraction
Experience with ETL processes, data integration, and transformation
1-2 years of Python or Java experience, ideally including Airflow for workflow automation
1-2 years of experience working with Kafka, including data streaming and real-time processing
Strong understanding of database design, data warehousing concepts, and data governance practices.
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with large datasets.
Diploma or bachelors degree in Information Science or a related field of study.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) for Power BI integration and data storage.
Experience working in an Agile environment and using version control tools like Gitlab.
Knowledge of additional reporting or data visualization tools is a plus.
Data profiling, and discrepancy analysis.
Power BI performance modelling and optimization.
Strong T-SQL and Database development skills.
Knowledgeable in Agile Software Development Methodology
