Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Data Quality Engineer to support a large retail client based in Vancouver BC 4 days a week onsite. They will, educate, enable and enforce data quality standards and best practices across the org. The intermediate-level Quality Engineer is expected to have 4-7 years of experience. They will join the Enterprise Data Quality Engineering team which helps advance data quality maturity across the organization.
rincipal Duties and Responsibilities:
Enable teams through onboarding and training teams on the data quality tools/solutions.
Monitor and troubleshoot data quality anomalies.
Support development and maintenance of relevant documentation.
Participate in knowledge transfer activities, issues, and risks.
Define & continuously evolve data quality standards and best practices.
Implement comprehensive data validation and testing strategies including schema validation, data quality checks, and reconciliation tests.
Drive adoption of data quality monitoring and observability by onboarding teams across the org onto the data quality tool/solution.
Ensure consistent automated data quality monitoring coverage across the critical data domains.
Debug complex data issues across distributed data systems using logs, data profiling tools, and lineage tracking to identify root causes.
Optimize performance of queries, data pipelines, and storage through testing, profiling data processing, and implementing improvements within architectural constraints.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on data quality requirements, technical feasibility, effort estimation, and scope definition

Required Skills & Experience
4-7 years of experience as a Data Quality Engineer, ETL Tester, or in a similar role.
Strong understanding of Data Quality Standards, and experience setting these standards across an organization.
Proficiency in SQL.
Proficiency in one or more programming language – Python, Java or Scala.
Experience with any of cloud systems – Azure ,AWS or GCP.
Knowledge of data management fundamentals, data storage principles, ETL, Data Modeling, and Data Architecture.
Experience with Snowflake / databricks platforms.
Experience with Databricks and PySpark.
Experience with one of the DevOps tools like Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab.
Experience in data test automation.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and equivalent.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Retail domain experience is preferred.
