Job Description
The Station Assets Engineer, reporting to the Senior Station Assets Engineer, supports the planning and development of capital sustainment, growth, and third‑party projects across electric substations. This role focuses on identifying and analyzing asset investment needs, developing project scopes and estimates, and coordinating with Engineering, Operations, Project Management, System Control, and other stakeholders to ensure well‑defined, safe, and maintainable project plans.
The position requires strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work across cross‑functional teams—including internal engineering groups and external consultants—to align technical deliverables, manage documentation, and support high‑quality planning outcomes.
The Station Assets Engineer also contributes to asset management processes, prepares business cases, leads planning meetings, and enters project information into the Asset Investment Planning tool to support long‑term system reliability and capital planning.

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent blend of technical education and project management experience
Minimum 5 years of electrical engineering and project management experience in utility, engineering, construction, or similar environments
Preference for candidates with professional registration (EIT, P.L.Eng., P.Eng. or equivalent), ideally an experienced P.Eng is desired
Strong understanding of asset management and capital planning, including identifying, scoping, and budgeting capital and sustainment projects
Demonstrated experience in project development—building business cases, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring safe, operable, and maintainable outcomes
Effective stakeholder coordination and communication skills, including leading planning meetings, managing information flow, and using tools such as Asset Investment Planning systems
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
High‑voltage electrical experience in substation engineering and planning
Strong utility background with familiarity in regulatory requirements
Solid project management capabilities supported by strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Able to work independently, take on new tasks confidently, solve problems effectively, and ask the right questions while referencing engineering standards when facing unfamiliar situations
