Job Description

Insight Global is supporting a leading defense client on a mission‑critical, high‑visibility initiative.We are seeking a hands‑on Cloud Automation & Infrastructure Engineer to join a small, highly technical platform team supporting enterprise‑scale infrastructure for SAP and front‑end applications. This role is heavily focused on infrastructure build automation, working side‑by‑side with a full‑time lead and development teams to design, implement, and enhance scalable, repeatable platform builds using Infrastructure as Code.

On a typical day, you will:
- Design, build, and automate core cloud infrastructure services, primarily in Azure, to support SAP and front‑end application teams
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible, with supporting scripting in Python and PowerShell
- Execute infrastructure builds based on application team specifications, ensuring environments are delivered in a consistent, repeatable, and supportable state
- Partner closely with a full‑time infrastructure lead to enhance and evolve existing builds to accommodate new requirements and integrations
- Support Azure SQL and related platform components as part of broader cloud IaC efforts
- Stand up baseline infrastructure and common application configurations (e.g., Tomcat installs) and hand off environments to application teams for continued development
- Work through Jira boards, managing and executing build tasks as new application teams onboard
- Collaborate with developers, including a full‑time full‑stack engineer, supporting integration needs and front‑end alignment when required (Angular/TypeScript exposure beneficial)
- Contribute to future‑state initiatives including AI‑enabled services, Copilot integration, and cloud platform evolution
Support an environment scaling to hundreds to potentially 1,300+ applications over time

Compensation: $65-75/HR Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401K retirement account access with employer matching. Required Skills & Experience

- 5+ years of Ansible experience (playbooks, roles, collections, vault)
- 5+ years of Terraform experience for IaC / Automation
- 6+ years of Linux administration (RHEL/CentOS preferred) and Windows Server administration (2019/2022)
-3+ years python development (working configuration files YAML, JSON, INI)
-2+ years of powershell scripting
- Strong understanding of idempotent, repeatable automation
- Experience creating reusable automation artifacts
- Python (REST APIs, automation extensions, data formats)
or PowerShell for Windows automation (DSC, AD, Group Policy
- Experience writing custom Ansible modules and plugins using Python
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to test and deploy automation
OS security hardening and compliance concepts
- Jira, Azure DevOps workflows
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP - Azure preferred)
