Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Manual QA Engineer to support testing efforts across its Smart Checkout, Point of Sale (POS), Loyalty, and Retail Systems platforms. This individual will be responsible for validating new features, releases, upgrades, and integrations that directly impact the customer experience, payments, loyalty rewards, fueling, and retail operations.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented manual tester who enjoys investigating issues, analyzing data, identifying defects, and ensuring a high-quality customer experience. This role operates in a fast-paced Agile environment with bi-weekly releases and requires close collaboration with business teams, developers, and other QA resources. While this is primarily a manual testing role, candidates with exposure to automation, APIs, databases, or programming concepts will stand out.
Create and execute test plans and test cases for bi-weekly Smart Checkout and POS releases.
Perform functional, regression, integration, UAT, API, and hardware-related testing across retail systems.
Validate loyalty programs, promotions, payment processing, fuel transactions, EBT functionality, and customer personalization journeys.
Investigate defects by reviewing logs, test results, payment gateway activity, and system data.
Document and track bugs in Jira, partnering with development teams to drive resolution.
Support production issues and release validation activities in addition to pre-release testing.
Test POS hardware components including pin pads, cash recyclers, smart checkout devices, firmware updates, and operating system upgrades.
Build and maintain a growing regression test suite and testing documentation library.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure new functionality meets user expectations and business requirements.
Cross-train across multiple retail technology platforms including Smart Checkout, Customer Data Platform (CDP), loyalty, and retail operations systems.

Required Skills & Experience
2-3+ years of Software QA or Quality Assurance experience.
Hands-on experience performing manual testing, including test case creation, execution, defect documentation, and regression testing.
Experience working within an Agile environment supporting frequent software releases.
Familiarity with Jira or similar defect tracking/test management tools.
Basic understanding of databases, table relationships, and troubleshooting application issues using data and logs.
Strong analytical and investigative skills with the ability to identify, document, and communicate defects effectively.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Retail, Point of Sale (POS), payments, loyalty, or eCommerce testing experience.
Exposure to API testing tools such as Postman.
Basic programming knowledge or familiarity with JavaScript concepts.
Experience testing hardware devices such as pin pads, payment terminals, self-checkout kiosks, or cash management systems.
Automation testing exposure or experience supporting automated test frameworks.
Understanding of customer journey testing, loyalty campaigns, or promotional offers.
