Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Ground System Developer to join our team supporting a development project. This individual will be expected to travel 50% of their time to various locations for site installations and maintenance support. Below is a brief summary of what this individual will be responsible for:
Lead system integration testing of the new GEP (Ground Entry Point) antenna systems being performed by the primary antenna vendor for both FAT (Factoring Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) phases
Be responsible for monitoring and assessing GEP antenna system, GEP site, and network performance based on system requirements and operational contact statistics, communicate issues/concerns/improvement recommendations to management
Be responsible for stepping in and acting as Site Lead in the absence of the Program Manager
Define and develop new monitoring and control interfaces between the Operations Control center and remote Ground Entry Point antenna sites
Work independently to review and modify technical documentation and drawings pertaining to systems and subsystems within a system and/or facility
Define and develop new Operations & Maintenance processes and procedures for our GEPs
Plan, coordinate, and seek approval for system Change requests for Software (SW) upgrades and/or Hardware (HW) upgrades for replacements and for facilities related work
Support and lead mechanical related work associated with mounting and dismounting equipment from an antenna system, as needed
Troubleshoot, identify, and craft solutions to resolve both system and site fault or anomaly conditions
Work independently to configure and utilize Lab test equipment - includes Network and spectrum analyzers, Software driven power, and frequency meters
Develop GEP performance metrics that include Antenna and sub-system components
Interface with vendors/customers through technical interchanges and coordinate SW/HW updates
Play a key role in performing or participating in trade studies in response to obsolescence or cost-effective replacements
Be responsible for interpreting site evaluations and surveys, providing recommendations, and executing or supporting the results

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelors degree in electronic engineering or related field, OR equivalent relevant experience in lieu of a degree
8+ years of telecommunications/Satcom experience in network operations, field, central office or RF communications environment
Proficient mechanical skills and practical experience installing and integrating antenna systems
Ability to configure and utilize RF test equipment - includes Network and spectrum analyzers, Software driven power and frequency meters
Proficient with Sketchup and/or CAD Structural Analysis Software: CATIA, SolidWorks
Experience operating both light and heavy equipment up to 10 tons, with crane rigging systems and hardware used for heavy lifting, and comfortable working around heights exceeding 10 ft
Ability to design site staging areas for Site installations
Experience developing product requirements and creating product test cases, risk assessment, and mitigation plans
