Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Vessel) to modernize, refresh, and deploy next‑generation infrastructure across a fleet of 20+ vessels. This includes full lifecycle ownership—from vendor evaluation and proof of concept through shipboard installation and final deployment.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in complex, non‑traditional environments and can deliver highly reliable infrastructure in maritime conditions.
Key Responsibilities
• Architect, deploy, and support shipboard and port infrastructure, including ruggedized servers, networking gear, and hybrid cloud platforms
• Lead modernization efforts across 20+ vessels, ensuring automation, reliability, and secure ship‑to‑shore connectivity
• Plan and execute shipboard data center builds (power, cooling, physical security, hardware design)
• Automate provisioning and configuration using Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet
• Administer Linux and Windows servers across vessel and port environments
• Manage DNS, DHCP, IPAM, and assist with routing, switching, and firewall architectures
• Perform tuning, capacity planning, and root‑cause analysis
• Develop SOPs, runbooks, and documentation for maritime deployments
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership
Travel as needed for onboard deployments and upgrade projects

Required Skills & Experience
• 5–7+ years in infrastructure engineering or maritime IT operations
• Hands-on expertise across all three layers: Physical, Virtualization/OS, Platform
• Server experience: HPE, Dell, Cisco
• Strong virtualization experience
• Infrastructure as Code, monitoring, and containerization
• Solid Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu) and Windows Server administration
• Scripting in Bash, PowerShell, Python
• Proven ability to lead complex infrastructure projects
• Understanding of power, cooling, ruggedized hardware, and physical security
Maritime, vessel, navy, or port experience (work or personal exposure)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• TWIC Card
• Bachelor’s in CS, IT, or related field
• Certifications: VCP, RHCE, Nutanix NCP, CCNP, AWS/Azure Associate
• Familiarity with ITIL, SolarWinds, Prometheus, Grafana
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Hybrid environments with strong AWS footprint
• Willingness to relocate for full-time conversion
Experience building shipboard server rooms or port-based data centers
