Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (AVD / IaC) with
deep, hands‑on experience designing, implementing, and supporting Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and enterprise VDI
platforms across hybrid environments. This is a delivery‑focused
role, not advisory—the ideal candidate has personally built AVD
environments from the ground up, supported them in production, and is
comfortable providing direct, white‑glove
support to end users.
This role is urgent and business‑critical, supporting the
initial AVD deployment, validating scalability and stability, and driving user
migration. The engineer will partner closely with Microsoft SMEs, internal infrastructure teams, and external
vendors to ensure a successful rollout and long‑term operational success.
Key Responsibilities
1. VDI Architecture & Engineering
• Design, deploy, configure, and optimize Azure Virtual Desktop across multi region Azure environments.
• Administer and support VMware Horizon, including Connection Servers, UAGs, instant clones, pools, and App Volumes.
• Implement and manage Windows 365 Cloud PC provisioning, policies, and capacity planning.
• Engineer scalable, high availability VDI solutions aligned with enterprise SLAs.
• Lead platform upgrades, image lifecycle management, and gold image optimization.
2. Virtualization & Data Center Infrastructure
• Administer VMware vSphere / ESXi clusters, including host configuration, HA, DRS, and resource allocation.
• Manage VM provisioning, storage allocation, and performance tuning.
• Support hybrid infrastructure integrating onprem and Azure workloads.
• Ensure proper configuration of storage (SAN/NAS), networking (VLANs, DNS, DHCP), and compute resources.
3. Performance & Monitoring
• Monitor VDI environments for performance, capacity, and availability.
• Troubleshoot user experience issues such as latency, profile corruption, login delays, and session instability.
• Conduct root cause analysis for complex VDI incidents.
• Implement proactive monitoring using enterprise tools and dashboards.
4. Security & Compliance
• Partner with security teams to apply zero trust principles within VDI platforms.
• Maintain compliance with patching, vulnerability remediation, and hardening standards.
• Manage identity integration with Active Directory, Azure AD / Entra ID, and Group Policy.
• Support MFA and conditional access enforcement.
5. Lifecycle & Operations
• Perform regular patching and upgrades of Windows Server, Windows 10/11 multi session, Horizon components, and AVD host pools.
• Maintain disaster recovery strategies and backup integration for VDI platforms.
• Develop and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and architecture documentation.
• Participate in ITIL based incident, problem, and change management processes.
• Provide Tier 3 escalation support for VDI issues.
• Mentor junior administrators and support knowledge sharing initiatives.
