Job Description
The Director of Accounting will support a hospital by overseeing the accounting function and driving operational excellence across financial processes. This role is responsible for managing the monthly close process, ensuring journal entries are completed accurately and on time, and presenting financial results to senior leadership.
This individual will lead a team of supervisors and their respective teams, providing mentorship, guidance, and ongoing development to build a strong, high-performing organization. Success in this role requires a solution-oriented mindset and the ability to continuously evaluate and improve existing processes to create efficiencies and scalability.
The Director of Accounting will play a key role in identifying gaps, streamlining workflows, and enhancing the overall close process while maintaining accuracy and compliance. Required Skills & Experience
• -Hospital Experince
Public Accounting Experience
Strong accounting fundamentals with deep understanding of month-end close processes
• Prior leadership experience managing and developing teams
• Experience overseeing multiple direct reports (manager/supervisor level)
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial results to leadership
• Proven ability to identify inefficiencies and drive process improvements
• Operational mindset with focus on continuous improvement and scalability
• High level of accountability with strong attention to detail
• Self-starter who takes ownership and can operate with autonomy
• Adaptable and coachable in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (with accounting coursework)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience with Workday (nice to have, not required)
• Experience improving or transforming close processes
• Background supporting growing or changing organizations
• Experience with a Big 4 accounting firm highly valued
