Job Description

An Insight Global customer is looking to hire a Facilities Wastewater Technician for a new state of the art semiconductor facility in north Phoenix. This person will be responsible for operating, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the site’s wastewater treatment & BRF systems. Additional responsibilities include:
Operate and monitor inorganic and organic wastewater treatment components such as equalization tanks, lift stations, clarifiers, filter press, decanters, neutralization skids, sludge handling systems, and chemical dosing equipment.
• Perform routine plant rounds, equipment checks, data logging, and performance monitoring.
• Maintain consistent effluent quality to meet permitted discharge requirements.
• Operate and maintain BRF systems including evaporators, concentrators, crystallizers, heat exchangers, brine pumps, and associated process controls.
• Monitor salinity, concentration levels, evaporation efficiency, flow rates, and system temperatures to maintain stable BRF performance.
• Perform routine inspections for scaling, fouling, leaks, vibration, abnormal noises, or process upsets.
• Respond to alarms, system trips, loss of cooling, heater issues, or brine carryover events.
• Collect wastewater and brine samples for internal and external lab analysis (pH, TSS, COD, conductivity, hardness, metals, and process‑specific contaminants).
• Calibrate and maintain field/lab instruments such as pH probes, conductivity meters, turbidity sensors, and online analyzers.
• Review trends, identify deviations, and initiate corrective actions.
• Perform PMs and repairs on pumps, valves, mixers, blowers, chemical dosing systems, evaporators, heat exchangers, filters, sensors, and instrumentation.
• Troubleshoot system failures such as flow blockages, pump seal failures, overheating equipment, chemical feed issues, scaling buildup, and instrumentation inaccuracies.
• Support cleaning procedures including descaling, line flushing, membrane maintenance, and evaporator cleaning intervals.
• Safely handle treatment chemicals including acids, caustics, coagulants, flocculants, antiscalants, oxidizers, and BRF system cleaning agents.
• Maintain detailed system logs, flow totals, chemical usage, sampling records, instrument calibrations, and maintenance activities using CMMS tools.
• Ensure wastewater and brine reduction operations comply with state, local, and internal environmental regulations.
• Support inspections, audits, incident reporting, and permit compliance documentation.
• Assist with startup, commissioning, and qualification of new wastewater and BRF equipment.
• Collaborate with engineering to optimize brine concentration cycles, evaporator performance, chemical dosing efficiency, and system reliability.

This is a full-time opportunity with our customer and you can plan to expect a compensation range of $30-$39/hr. Exact compensation may vary depending on years of experience and education.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of experience in wastewater treatment, industrial water systems, or similar utility operations.
• Understanding of chemical and physical wastewater treatment methods, including brine concentration
• Ability to read P&IDs, flow diagrams, equipment manuals, and SOPs.
• Experience with sampling, lab instruments, and wastewater quality monitoring.
• Ability to work in industrial treatment environments including tanks, evaporators, chemical rooms, and utility spaces.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience in semiconductor, chemical, refinery, or heavy industrial wastewater treatment.
• Experience with evaporators, concentrators, or crystallization systems associated with BRF operations.
• Wastewater operator certifications (Grade I/II/III) or equivalent technical credentials.
• Familiarity with SCADA/BMS systems used for process monitoring and controls.
• Strong mechanical aptitude for pumps, heat exchangers, and process equipment.
