Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Senior Database Security Engineer for a leading enterprise client focused on strengthening database security across cloud environments. This engineer will play a critical role in developing automated solutions for database activity monitoring across AWS and Azure platforms. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in database technologies, security best practices, and scripting/automation, along with strong experience in SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Linux systems. This role requires a proactive and innovative mindset to build scalable, secure, and automated solutions that enhance visibility, compliance, and protection across enterprise data environments.
Day-to-Day:
• Develop and automate database activity monitoring solutions in cloud environments (AWS/Azure)
• Build scripts and tools using Python and shell scripting to enhance security monitoring
• Implement and maintain database security controls and policies
• Monitor and analyze database activity to identify potential vulnerabilities or threats
• Integrate monitoring tools with CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks
• Collaborate with engineering, security, and infrastructure teams
• Manage and improve audit logging, encryption, and access management processes
• Create and maintain documentation and reporting for compliance and security audits
• Continuously improve automation capabilities and monitoring coverage

Required Skills & Experience
• 10+ years of experience as a SQL Server Engineer, Database Engineer, or Database Developer
• Strong expertise in Python and shell scripting
• Strong experience working in Linux environments
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs
• Deep knowledge of cloud-based databases (AWS RDS, Azure, PostgreSQL, MSSQL)
• Strong knowledge of database security concepts, including:
o Native audit logging
o Encryption (in-transit and at-rest)
o Entitlements and access control
o Password vaulting
• Experience with database activity monitoring tools (Guardium or similar)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices and tools (Jira, Horizon)
• Strong communication and presentation skills
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience with PowerShell and Ansible
• Exposure to additional database security tools or scanning platforms
• Experience in enterprise-scale cloud or hybrid environments
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning background
• Experience building or improving automation frameworks for database monitoring
• Proactive and innovative mindset with ability to work independently
