Job Description

Insight Global is hiring a Property Tax Specialist to join one of Alberta's largest utility providers on a full-time basis, sitting out of Edmonton or Calgary Alberta. This position would require the candidate to work in-office Tuesday-Thursday.

The primary responsibilities of this candidate will involve acting as the subject matter expert for property tax compliance across our Canadian and U.S. assets. You will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and analyzing property tax assessments and payments, researching complex tax issues, and identifying opportunities to optimize our tax position. The successful candidate will also contribute to financial planning and business development projects where property taxes play a role, while maintaining strong relationships with assessors, municipal representatives, and internal stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

Must haves:
- 3+ years of property tax experience in a professional services or industry tax role
- Prior exposure to complex tax compliance, research, and financial planning.
- Review property tax assessments and tax notices from provinces and municipalities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Degree or Diploma in Business, Finance, or Accounting

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Plusses:
- Advanced Excel skills: familiarity with reporting tools (Power BI, etc.)
- Prior experience working in the Utility and/or Power industry
- Certified Member of the Institute (CMI) Property Tax Certification or actively working toward certification.
- Experience working with ERP systems (Oracle subledger an asset)
