Job Description

The role sits at the heart of a complex, finance & technology driven portfolio where financial insight, risk awareness, and strong governance are essential. You will act as a trusted advisor to project leaders and business leaders ensuring transparency, predictability, across multiple projects. In the role of Project Controller, you would work as part of a multidisciplinary team to plan, design, develop, and implement comprehensive business solutions in response to business needs. Knowledge of methods and techniques for project controls (cost & estimating) and demonstrated skill in their application to steward project financials are essential. The Project Controls Professional will work effectively and efficiently, as a team member, and independently. A Project Controller is adaptable and resourceful and can deliver in an agile manner, responding to changing requirements collaboratively.

Your Project Controls background will help inform & shape critical decisions ensuring technology projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. You excel at bringing clarity and structure to complex environments, confidently navigating ambiguity and driving alignment across stakeholders. With a strong analytical mindset and a collaborative approach, you transform cost and schedule data into actionable insights that enable predictable outcomes, and sustainable success.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop, maintain, and continuously refine cost and schedule forecasts using historical trends, risk inputs, and performance data.
• Apply project risk control techniques, including quantitative and qualitative risk analysis, scenario modeling, and impact assessment
• Identify financial and execution risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and assess impact on forecasts
• Leverage AI-enabled systems and advanced analytics to improve forecast accuracy, variance detection, and early-warning indicators
• Develop and maintain PowerBI dashboards for project team
• Lead core project control activities including budgeting, forecasting, change management, risk assessment, monthly financials (including accruals, invoice verification), progress & performance, data accuracy, managing a financial calendar, and reporting
• Translate complex analytics into clear, actionable insights for project and executive stakeholders.
• Act as a trusted advisor to business leads and an active member of the project team
• Collaborate with stakeholders to refine governance protocols and support stage gate requirements
• Contribute to business case development, cost forecasting, KPI measurement, and benefits tracking


Skills
• Forecasting & Risk Management: Risk-based forecasting, scenario analysis, trend analysis, EAC/EFC development
• Advanced Analytics: Data modeling, predictive insights, visualization, and dashboard development (Power BI)
• AI-Enabled Project Controls: Use of automation, intelligent analytics, and emerging AI tools to enhance controls maturity
• Financial & Cost Management: Budgeting, variance analysis, change control, and performance measurement
• Technical Proficiency: SAP, Oracle, Advanced PowerBI Skills (data modeling, DAX, dashboard creation), MS Excel, and other project and cost control systems
• Communication & Influence: Executive-level reporting, stakeholder engagement, and data storytelling
• Governance & Assurance: Stage gating, risk reviews, contract compliance, readiness assessments, and audit support
• Client-Focused Mindset: Delivering reliable insights that enable confident, timely decisions

Required Skills & Experience

Experience
• Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive experience in Project Controls, with strong emphasis on forecasting, risk analysis, and performance analytics
• AACEI and/or PMI certifications (considered an asset)
• Proven ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and influence decisions
• Demonstrated experience applying risk-based forecasting, trend analysis, and scenario modeling to project decision-making
• Skilled in data analysis, dashboard development, and using analytic tools to generate actionable insights
• Experience in IT, HR, Infrastructure, Technology, and Finance project environments
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI; knowledge of MS Visio and MS Project is an asset
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and other cost management tools
• Exposure to or hands-on use of AI-enabled project controls tools, automation, or advanced analytics solutions is highly desirable
