Insight Global is looking for a Commissioning and Start Up (CSU) Lead to support one of Canada's largest oil and gas companies on a 6 month contract on a 10 days on/4 days off work roster. This resource will support the commissioning/start-up of fractionation plant infrastructure. Work will be conducted out of the Calgary office however travel to site will be required during key commissioning stages, site location is Fort Saskatchewan.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and execution of the project commissioning and handover plan to operations.
- Evaluate and comment on discipline engineering work performed both internally and by sub-contractors to ensure that work is being executed in accordance with project specifications, company standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Facilitates effective execution of discipline engineering and design routines that align with the project's goals, objectives, and procedures.
- Assure accurate and timely communication among the Project Team and Company Functions on discipline engineering activities, progress, and issues

- Minimum 5 years of Start up/Commissioning background with experience leading a Commissioning team
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or degree in Engineering technology
- Prior experience in industrial automation, ideally with PLC Ladder Logic
- Strong understanding of PLC testing and commissioning procedures
- Demonstrated experience of test plan creation and execution
- Knowledge and experience of SATs (Site Acceptance Tests) and FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests)
- Demonstrated track record for health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) leadership and delivery
- Knowledge of commissioning turnover systems
- Broad and extensive knowledge of discipline design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria
- Broad and extensive knowledge of discipline design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria with the ability to read an understand all engineering deliverables (ie - process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagram, shut down keys, etc)
- Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs (Excel, Word, Visio, MS Project)
- Read, write, and speak fluent English, especially as it applies to technical and business communication
- Experience working on a fractionation plant
