Job Description

Day to day:
Insight Global is seeking an Assistant Controller to join a large natural gas wholesale distribution company in Calgary, Alberta. This is a permanent hybrid role requiring onsite presence three days a week. The successful candidate will lead a team of four and report directly to the companys Controller. This position is responsible for overseeing critical accounting processes, ensuring internal control compliance, and submitting consolidated financial information to Corporate. Key accounting areas include inventory, revenue, cost of goods sold, commodity hedging, fixed assets, and receivables. Corporate submissions consist of monthly financial statements, quarterly footnote support, and tax packages. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as the role involves collaboration across business units and vendors.

Required Skills & Experience

Must-Haves:
· CPA designation
· 510 years of post-designation experience
· 2+ years of hands-on leadership experience managing teams of 23 people
· Experience in financial reporting, including month-end processes compliant with IFRS and preparation of quarterly-end packages
· Proficiency in preparing journal entries, including account reconciliations, financial statements, consolidation, and eliminations
· Strong computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), with the ability to learn and adapt to new applications
· Undergraduate degree

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Pluses:
·Preferred knowledge of Hyperion, Rightangle, Workday Finance, and Resolver
·Background in taxation or experience handling tax-related matters
·Industry experience in oil and gas
