We are seeking a Principal GitOps Engineer to define and lead our enterprise-wide cloud automation strategy through modern GitOps practices. This is a principal technical leadership position that plays a critical role in architecting and scaling our private cloud infrastructure using declarative, version-controlled, and automated workflows.
As a Principal Engineer, you will drive automation frameworks and GitOps principles across engineering domains, collaborating closely with security, platform, and development teams. You will influence architectural decisions, mentor senior engineers, and ensure alignment with strategic infrastructure and DevSecOps goals.
Key Responsibilities for this position would include, but not be limited to:
· Design and implement GitOps-based workflows for infrastructure and application deployment in private cloud environments.
· Collaborate with cloud architects, platform engineers, and development teams to build scalable and reusable automation frameworks.
· Champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, and Ansible.
· Manage configuration and secrets using tools such as Vault, SOPS, or Sealed Secrets.
· Build CI/CD pipelines that integrate with GitOps tools like ArgoCD or Flux.
· Ensure compliance, observability, and security are embedded into GitOps processes.
· Participate in the creation of documentation, runbooks, and knowledge transfer across teams.
Act as a thought leader in DevSecOps best practices and promote GitOps culture across engineering.

· 8+ years of experience in infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE roles, with at least 3 years focused on GitOps practices.
· Demonstrated expertise in cloud-native infrastructure (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenShift).
· Advanced proficiency in IaC (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD technologies (e.g., GitLab, Tekton, Jenkins X).
· Deep knowledge of GitOps tooling (ArgoCD, Flux), Helm charts, Kustomize, and declarative YAML management.
· Strong programming/scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash).
· Proven experience working in complex, large-scale, secure environments.
· Understanding of zero-trust security, RBAC, and secrets management (Vault, SOPS, Sealed Secrets).
· Excellent communication and leadership skills with a history of cross-team influence.
Familiarity with service mesh (e.g., Istio, Linkerd), observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana), and policy tools (OPA/Gatekeeper).
