Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Engineer for a four-month contract role. This position will support project coordination for complex commercial customer accounts and order entry involving fiber optic network design\engineering and implementation. The ideal candidate will have experience in broadband and/or telecom service delivery processes and be comfortable working cross-functionally with engineering, sales, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate and track commercial service orders from initiation through fulfillment.
• Accurately enter and manage technical order data into internal systems.
• Collaborate with engineering and network design teams to interpret and validate fiber optic service designs.
• Ensure alignment between customer requirements, design specifications, and order documentation.
• Identify gaps or discrepancies in order details and proactively resolve them with stakeholders.
• Support scheduling and status updates for internal teams and customers as needed.
• Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with internal process standards.
• Provide regular progress reports to project leads and escalate issues when necessary.
• CLI experience with at least two of the following: Huawei (VRP), Ericsson (SEOS), Juniper (Junos), Arista (EOS)

• Strong understanding of IP routing protocols, especially OSPF (adjacencies, LSA propagation, ring behaviors) and BGP (eBGP/iBGP basics)

• Foundational knowledge of MPLS (label distribution, LSP paths, loop prevention mechanisms)

• Confidence in configuring, verifying, and troubleshooting LAGs, routed sub interfaces, VLAN tagging, and BFD

Required Skills & Experience

• 2+ years of experience in telecom project coordination, engineering and order management, or a related field.
• Familiarity with fiber optic networks, service design, and commercial account provisioning.
• Strong working knowledge of order entry systems and project tracking tools (e.g., Salesforce, Excel, Smartsheet, or similar).
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with GIS systems, CAD tools, or network design platforms is a plus.
• Familiar with backbone migrations tied to fiber re-terminations and site failovers

• Comfortable coordinating with remote and on-site teams during live cutovers

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Telecom or ISP industry experience, especially with enterprise customers.
• Understanding of fiber route planning, splicing, and circuit design and engineering MPLS networks.
