Job Description

Insight Global is currently seeking Senior Mechanical Engineer to join an engineering firm in Mobile, AL. This role involves utilizing department design and drafting standards, understanding project scope and specifications, and providing on-site assistance during startup. Responsibilities include performing engineering activities such as stress analysis, construction specifications, material procurement, calculations, and piping estimates on API tanks, boilers, and HVAC systems. The project manager will develop conceptual layouts and cost studies, produce preliminary designs and material take-offs, and create detailed design calculations and sketches. Additionally, the project manager will review vendor and discipline drawings, provide technical guidance to less experienced personnel, and apply advanced engineering techniques to complex designs.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
10+ years of experience as an electrical engineer
o Strong experience with Fixed Equipment (API tanks, boilers, HVAC, etc.)
Knowledge of the following:
o Manual valve sizing, use and application
o Application of piping supports and restraints
o Application and specification of safety valves and devices to maintain the mechanical integrity of piping systems.
o Application and specification of steam traps and liquid drainers.
Estimating piping related construction quantities from conceptual documents
Knowledge and application of engineering design and CAD drafting standards
o Working knowledge of CAD design (AutoCAD, Microstation, etc.)
Ability and willingness to obtain a PE license

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Active PE license highly preferred
