Job Description
The Fire Alarm Designer will support a multidisciplinary consulting engineering team by designing, documenting, and coordinating fire alarm and life safety systems for a variety of commercial, industrial, institutional, and government facilities. This role focuses on translating code requirements and engineering direction into clear, constructible fire alarm system design documents.

Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience designing fire alarm systems in a consulting engineering or design-build environment.
Strong working knowledge of fire alarm and life safety codes (NFPA 72, IBC, IFC).
Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit in a production design environment.
Experience preparing permit-ready fire alarm drawings and documentation.
Ability to interpret architectural and MEP drawings and specifications.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
NICET certification (Fire Alarm Systems – Level II or higher).
Experience supporting healthcare, higher education, industrial, federal, or mission-critical facilities.
Familiarity with fire alarm system manufacturers (e.g., Siemens, Honeywell, Simplex, Edwards, Notifier).
Experience coordinating with AHJs and supporting permit reviews.
