Job Description

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Building Automation and Control Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of building automation systems (BAS), specifically in programming and integrating Niagara 4 Framework, Honeywell Spyders, Honeywell Optimizers, and Distech Controls. This role requires collaboration with team members both on and off-site, with the capability to design and provide accurate estimates and proposals. Adherence to the highest standards of performance and safety is paramount.

Day to Day:
Ø System Design and Cost Estimating
· Design, develop, program, and implement BAS to control and monitor mechanical and electrical systems in various building types.
· Create and review BAS drawings, specifications, and submittals.
· Lead and manage BAS projects from conception to completion.
· Coordinate with government entities, clients, contractors, and internal teams to meet project deliverables and timelines.
· Provide technical support and guidance throughout project phases.
· Assist in developing Sequences of Operations.
· Analyze project requirements to prepare competitive bid proposals.
· Estimate costs, resources, and timelines for new BAS projects.
Ø Programming and Implementation
· Travel extensively to perform work at various government and military installations.
· Develop and customize BAS software within the Niagara 4 Framework.
· Develop control programs and integrate Honeywell Spyders, Honeywell Optimizers, and Distech Controls.
· Ensure alignment of Statement of Objectives (SOO) with customer or contractual requirements through effective communication.
· Ensure seamless communication and interoperability between system components.
· Adhere to all safety standards from Spectrum Solutions and the customer.
· Work with government entities and customers to build a secure BAS infrastructure.
Ø System Testing, Commissioning, Maintenance, and Support
· Conduct system testing and commissioning to verify BAS operations.
· Perform pre-commissioning and final commissioning of BAS.
· Coordinate the takeover and completion of BAS installations and project start-up.
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues during the commissioning process.
· Provide ongoing maintenance and support for installed BAS to ensure optimal performance.
· Train clients and end-users in BAS operation and maintenance.
Ø Documentation and Reporting
· Ensure smooth communication and information dissemination to the BAS team by working directly with the Project Manager.
· Participate in site meetings and provide progress reports.
· Prepare detailed documentation, including design documents, user manuals, and maintenance records.
· Generate regular reports on project status and system performance.

Required Skills & Experience

· Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in HVAC, Building Automation, or control systems, with at least 3 years of direct involvement in integration, checkout, testing, commissioning, and field support of DDC based automation systems.
· Proven experience in programming HVAC application-specific controllers from scratch to meet requirements.
· Comprehensive understanding of control theory, automatic temperature controls, and BAS
· Strong knowledge of serial and IP-based networks and BAS communication protocols (Niagara Tridium, BACnet, LonWorks, Modbus).
· Ability to review specification and design drawings for control, electrical, and mechanical applications, adhering to industry standards and best practices.
· Ability to organize and lay out jobsite activities, including material takeoffs and ordering specifications
· Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Vision, and Excel
· Valid drivers license with a clean driving record
· Ability to pass a background check - 7 years

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

· Niagara 4 Technical Certification
· Honeywell Spyder 7 Factory Certification
· Distech Controls Applications and Controllers Certification
· AutoCAD experience
· Ability to assist in developing and designing control drawings
