Job Description
An employer headquartered in Simi Valley, CA with operations in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Weapons System Safety Engineer (WSSE) to support active defense programs. This role focuses on Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) analysis and provides both front-end and back-end engineering support throughout the system lifecycle.
The WSSE will work closely with design teams to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance across complex weapon systems, contributing to requirements development, analysis, testing, and documentation in accordance with applicable military standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) analyses for weapon systems and subsystems
Conduct FMECA/FEMECA, DFMEA, and PFMEA to identify and mitigate system risks
Apply and ensure compliance with MIL-STD-882 (System Safety) and MIL-STD-1360 requirements
Support requirements definition, allocation, and traceability
Develop and support test plans and test execution
Provide front-end support to design teams during system architecture and development
Provide back-end support, including analysis results, reporting, and program deliverables
Prepare, review, and maintain CDRLs (Contract Data Requirements Lists) and other technical documentation
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and program stakeholders throughout the system lifecycle

Required Skills & Experience
- Obtained Bachelor's in Systems Engineering
8-12 years of exp in Systems Engr (Weapons Systems engineering)
- Understanding of MIL-STD882,1316, JTOP-051, JTOP-052 Standards
- Experience performing Failure Mode Effects and Critical Analysis (FMECA)
- Experience performing reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM analysis), preferrably within Reliasoft and/or MADe
- Experience writing system safety protocols
