Job Description

An employee in Huntsville, AL is looking for an Operations Research and Data Analyst to provide and support implementation of strategic goals from the Product Owner. This person will use advanced mathematical and analytical methods to help solve complex business problems and improve operational dataflow efficiency. The Operations Research Analyst will work closely with various departments and Army/Joint level programs to identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets and transport formats.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret large sets of sensor data to identify trends, patterns, inefficiencies, data tagging, capacity, and insights.
Model Development: Develop and implement mathematical and architecture models and algorithms using software tools and techniques.
Problem Solving: Apply operations research methods and techniques to solve complex data problems and establish best practices for data transfer and storage solutions.
Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization across various business functions.
Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to senior Army leaders, stakeholders, and teams of cross-functional subject matter experts.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including IT, finance, marketing, and operations to ensure alignment and effectiveness of solutions.
Technology Utilization: Utilize programming languages (e.g., Python, R) and software tools (e.g., MATLAB, Excel, SQL) to conduct analyses, build models, and present findings.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in operations research and analytics.

Required Skills & Experience

- Education: Bachelors degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in data science, operations research, data analysis, or a related field.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Strong knowledge of statistical methods and modeling techniques
- Familiarity with database management and SQL.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Experience with Department of Defense sensors and command and control systems.
- Experience with machine learning algorithms and techniques.
- Knowledge of supply chain management and logistics.
- Experience with data containerization tools (i.e., Kubernetes, etc.)
- Certification in operations research or data analytics (e.g., Certified Analytics Professional).
