Job Description
Primary Responsibilities
The Project Consultant assists with various functions within Strategy and Project Management to support corporate initiatives which include:
Planning, organizing and coordinating the efforts of delivering continuous improvement services requested by Corporate Management in support of the corporate vision, mission, critical issues, tactics, goals and objectives
Providing support to all divisions and departments of the Company and interacting with associates at all levels
Utilizing department accepted and standard project management methodology
Leading projects through the phases of initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and closing
Staying knowledgeable of project management techniques and ongoing initiatives throughout the organization
Directing efforts of other supporting resources related to projects
Planning and directing the activities to apply knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to meet project requirements
Following standard project management methodology and adaptation of the plan to address concerns and expectations of impacted areas of the Company
Serving in a project leadership role and being an important part of creating a favorable and productive environment
Supporting multiple projects at one time
Accomplishing the above tasks with minimal supervision and works independently

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business, Engineering, or related field
Project Management Professional (PMP) Project Management Institute (PMI) certification, or willingness to obtain a PMI PMP certification within one year of hiring
3 years of experience in a similar position and/or proven experience managing enterprise level projects according to assigned responsibilities
Experience in a position leading projects to improve workflow/productivity
Experience using project management techniques and tools
Experience using Microsoft (MS) Project, MS Office, or similar applications
Experience with project scope, budget, and resource planning, scheduling, tracking and reporting
Experience with project risk and issue management
Experience interacting with all levels of staff internal and external
Experience in a position interpreting, and communicating information orally and written
Knowledge of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama's key business processes, including an understanding of the Company’s structure and culture preferred
Experience analyzing business processes and identifying solutions preferred
Project Management Institute (PMI) sponsored training preferred
