Job Description
The Human Resources Generalist is a key partner in supporting day-to-day HR operations within a fast-paced plant environment. This role exercises independent judgment and discretion while supporting a wide range of HR functions, policies, and programs. The HR Generalist collaborates closely with employees, plant leadership, and HR team members to deliver effective and compliant HR support aligned with business goals.
This position also provides administrative and project support to plant leadership, including the Plant Manager and Supervisors, as needed.
Essential Functions:
-Support a broad range of HR functions, including recruiting, employee relations, compliance, HRIS administration, benefits, and leave management
-Serve as a resource for employees and leadership by providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and programs while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
-Partner with supervisors, safety, and plant leadership to manage full-cycle recruiting for both internal and external candidates
-Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes, including pre-employment requirements, benefits enrollment, and exit interviews
-Manage employee relations matters such as conflict resolution, workplace investigations, and coaching managers on corrective actions and documentation
-Coordinate leave administration through a third-party provider, ensuring compliance with ADA, FMLA, and USERRA requirements
-Support and track employee training and compliance initiatives
-Maintain attendance tracking systems and administer attendance-related policies for hourly employees
-Ensure accuracy and integrity of employee data within HRIS, including job changes, compensation updates, and employment status changes
-Assist with wage and hour compliance and collaborate with payroll as needed
-Participate in safety initiatives, including committee involvement, safety program administration, and workers’ compensation support
-Coordinate employee engagement efforts and recognition programs
-Provide administrative and project support to plant leadership as needed
-Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Experience
-A minimum of three years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in a manufacturing or steel environment
-Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field
-Working knowledge of key employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, USERRA, FLSA, and EEO
-Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively engage with employees at all levels of the organization
-Proven ability to handle sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality and sound judgment
