Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an Electrical Engineer III. Under the direction of the Electrical Engineering Manager, the Electrical Engineer III applies the laws of electrical energy with the principals of engineering for the generation and transmission into the design of heat processing equipment in accordance with Company policies and procedures. Typical specializations are PLC process programs, operator interface and network communications for PLC and peripheral components, piping and components for heat processing equipment. The Electrical Engineer III contributes to complex aspects of a project. Work decision are generally independent while being collaborative in nature. Responsibilities Include:

1. Design and implement control systems with PLC's, relays, contactors, devices (RTD's, Transmitters, switches, etc.), electrical schematic drawings and BOMs.
2. PLC architecture design and software programming pertaining to heat processing and process cleaning equipment.
3. Write sequence of operations.
4. Adhere to established standards, policies, and procedures to complete work assignments.
5. Utilize AutoCAD Electrical, other design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
6. Acts as electrical technical lead on assigned projects.
7. Possess complete knowledge of sales contract with the ability to define critical project criteria to ensure project completion within budget.
8. Consistently demonstrate professional skills in structuring assigned activities, creativity, teamwork, handling of clients, and client’s changing needs, decision-making and problem solving.
9. Communicate directly with clients or assigned project manager for approvals, required information and contract progress report.
10. Monitor compliance with client criteria as well as all National, NFPA, and UL codes.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• Related work experience in an Electrical Engineering/PLC environment, usually acquired through 4-7 years of exposure to heat processing equipment or related equipment design experience.
• Minimum of four (4) years PLC programming/program experience.
• PLC architecture design and software programming is a requirement
• Familiarity with many aspects of systems integration (including PLC, HMI, instrumentation, networking, communication, power distribution)
• VFD and Soft Start experience is a requirement
• Proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical)
• Familiarity with gas trains and associated codes
• Understanding of compliance requirements: NFPA, NEC, UL, CE, and OSHA
• Mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Ability to record and log information accurately
• Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a very fast paced, sometimes stressful environment, possess strong decision-making skills and acts independently
• Demonstrated proficiency in general office related software (Ex: Microsoft Office and/or MRP/ERP System)
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in verbal, written, or diagram form
