Job Description

The Clarios Li-ion Product Technology Software Team is searching for an individual interested in contributing on a team tasked with developing new energy storage technology for vehicles of the future. We are searching for an experienced Software Safety Engineer to provide failure mode analysis and demonstrate that software safety requirements are properly satisfied. This individual should be highly motivated and ready to contribute to the success of the team. Responsibilities include:

* Create the Software Safety Analysis to show the effects of possible failures, including qualitative safety analysis, dependent failure analysis, and failure mitigation measures

* Create reports to demonstrate that all software safety requirements are satisfied, including verification and traceability for architecture, detailed design, unit testing, integration testing, and qualification testing

* Select software tools and create the Software Tool Qualification Report to show that the selection of software tools is appropriate for project safety goals

* Contribute to the Software Development Plan

* Contribute to the software team Change Management Plan

* Contribute to the software team Configuration Management Plan

* Contribute to the guidelines for requirements, architecture, design, implementation, and testing

* Manage work through use the use of configuration management and issue tracking tools

* Support creation and review of software requirements, architecture, and detailed design

* Execute the software development process and make improvements to process and infrastructure

* Participate in cross-functional project planning and review events

* Assess proposed features and perform impact analysis as a member of the SW Change Control Board

* Coach team members to promote best practices and continuous improvement

Required Skills & Experience

* Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering

* 5+ years of experience in embedded systems software development for safety-critical systems

* 5+ years of experience hands-on programming, testing, and debugging C embedded software

* Excellent technical and communication skills

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

* Master of Science in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering

* Experience working in the Agile Scrum framework

* Experience with ASPICE software development processes

* Formal training in ISO 26262 Functional Safety Engineering

* Experience with root cause analysis techniques such as FMEA, 5 Whys, and fishbone diagrams

* Experience with software cybersecurity

* Experience collaborating with global team members

* Experience with Jira project tracking software

* Experience with formal software requirements tools such as IBM DOORS and Jama

* Experience tracking verification and traceability metrics

* Experience with automotive communication interfaces such as CAN and LIN
